We had some problems with .jar packets, but now everything is in order and we are glad to say that Gegenschein Alpha release will be TODAY! At 6:00 Pm (GMT+1) a download link will appear to this website.
What is Gegenschein?
Gegenschein is a side scrolling 2D Java game. Gegenschein is also a cross-platform game so it will work on Windows, OS X and Linux operating systems.
At the moment Gegenschein is only a single player game and has only one stage but that will change in the near future. In Gegenschein you will play as a pilot of a spaceship and your mission is to collect dark matter, kill enemies and particularly just survive.
When will Gegenschein be released?
Alpha version is already released and new versions will be released when we make more content.

Who are we?
We are two software engineering students from Helsinki, Finland. We study in Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, but at the moment we are doing our exchange semester in University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria in Campus Hagenberg. This game development started as a school project but it will continue as long as we have inspiration, time and new ideas!
Which games have inspired us to make this game?
NES and Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) games have always been our favourites. We have also got inspiration from games like Minecraft, Raiden II and Silver Surfer. If you don't know what Silver Surfer NES game is, we recommend to watch Angry Video Game Nerd's legendary review!
