I’m feeling a bit tired. I started in a new job as a System Designer at Samcom about two weeks ago and it has been wonderful. My days have been filled with tutorials and exercises on Sharepoint Server and Services. Slowly but surely I’m becoming quite the expert :)

At the same time though, I’d have to do about a dozen different group works for my marketing studies and try to find a subject for my thesis. These put a bit of a strain on my organizing skills, but it’s still manageable.

And then there’s Lauri on top of that all. We’ve been keeping sleepschool for him for a few nights now and he hasn’t shown any major co-operation towards sleeping the whole night. Last night I was so tired I didn’t even wake up as Kaisa tried to calm him. That’s no suprise, as I have never had trouble with sleeping, only the going-to-bed part.

The duties of acting project manager were bestowed upon me today in our student project, Movecra. I am supposed to lead the project until the end.

Finally this project is about to be finished, as it has taken a bit too much time out of every one of us. At the same time it is getting harder and harder, as we have been using too little resources compared to the 275 hours total, which we are supposed to use according to our science department. In a ‘real’ IT project this wouldn’t be a problem, as they tend to overuse their resources.

To be honest, I’m a bit excited having the responsibility of our results and how we present them to Moventas Wind. We’ve been working for the past months to achieve this goal and now it’s here. Hope I don’t mess it up.

It seems, as I was writing those previous posts I received e-mail from our study record system, that my bachelor’s thesis has been passed. I thought it would take longer to review and that I’d have to make some corrections, but this is great news. The grade was an average 2 (on scale of 1-3).

The thesis is a literary review and a technology analysis about mashups. In the thesis I explain the term ‘mashup’ and focus on different technologies surrounding it. What are mashups? What technologies are used to create mashups? How the technologies combine to create this kind of a application? The pros and cons via a SWOT analysis.
